Through extensive research and field consultations, MAST partners have identified the barriers facing SMEs in adopting ISO 21401 standards and achieving environmental, social, and economic sustainability. Our findings highlight:

A need for simpler, cost-effective certification processes.

The importance of community engagement and fair employment practices.

Gaps in technical knowledge, financial resources, and user-friendly assessment tools.
We also spotlight our Stakeholder Workshop in Heraklion, where local actors came together to explore regional solutions aligned with the MAST Protocol.
What’s next? We’re developing tailored tools, including a user-friendly Self-Assessment Tool, practical training modules, and a growing community of practice across borders.
