MAST further strengthens its regional outreach with key tourism stakeholders in Slovenia

05/12/2025

MAST continues to strengthen its visibility and engagement across the Mediterranean — this time in Slovenia, where the project was presented to key national actors in the hospitality sector.

At the Annual Assembly of the Slovenian Hotel Managers Association on 2 December 2025, the President of the Association presented the MAST project as an important initiative under the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, designed to support small and medium-sized accommodation providers in transitioning toward more resilient, sustainable, and circular management models.

The presentation highlighted the project’s progress to date, including the development of the MAST Sustainability Protocol and the Online Self-Assessment Tool, both aligned with the ISO 21401:2018 standard for sustainability in accommodation services. The Association emphasised the importance of participation from accommodation providers in the upcoming tool validation and testing phase, noting that their professional insights will help ensure the tool is practical, relevant, and tailored to real needs within the sector.

In addition, the Director of the Tourism and Hospitality Chamber of Slovenia announced that members will shortly receive an official invitation to take part in the testing phase through the Chamber’s communication channels. A dedicated follow-up meeting will be organised in December to collect further sector-specific perspectives that will contribute to the refinement of MAST outputs.

The continued engagement of national tourism bodies reaffirms MAST’s growing role in supporting the Mediterranean’s transition towards more sustainable and responsible tourism practices.
